Honey, the way it should be.

Raw, unfiltered, alive — with the propolis, wax, and pollen still in it. Pasteurised supermarket honey is a different thing entirely.

From our hives, your jar

Our apiary rotates between our Thurgoona and Kancoona properties — the bees forage across native bushlands, fruit orchards, and our gardens. We leave them to do their own thing, only stepping in when we smell the honey flow.

Then it's extracted on-site, cold, and into glass jars. No pasteurisation, no fine filtration, no blending. What you'd see if you peeked under the lid of a hive — propolis, wax and pollen included — is what ends up in the jar.

FAQs

What makes it 'raw' honey?

It's never heated and never fine-filtered. Most commercial honey is pasteurised and processed within an inch of its life to make it look uniform on shelves. Ours skips all of that — the natural enzymes, propolis, and pollen are still in there. That's the whole point.

Why has my honey gone solid/cloudy?

That's crystallisation — a sign your honey is real and raw. All natural honey crystallises eventually; it has nothing to do with going off. If you want it runny again, stand the jar in a bowl of warm (not hot) water for a few minutes. Don't microwave it — you'll undo the raw bit.

How long does it last?

Properly stored honey is essentially eternal. Sealed, kept cool and dark, ours will outlast you. Open jars are happy on the bench for many months. The crystallisation/colour will shift over time but the honey itself doesn't really 'go off'.

Where do the bees forage?

Across our two properties in Thurgoona and Kancoona — native bush, orchard trees, gum blossoms, garden flowers. Every batch tastes slightly different depending on the season and what's flowering. That's part of the joy.

Is it pasteurised?

No. Pasteurisation heats honey to 70–80°C which kills off enzymes and the live bits that make raw honey worth eating. We cold-extract and bottle. That's it.

Can kids have it?

Honey is generally not recommended for babies under 12 months due to a small risk of botulism (this applies to all honey, raw or otherwise). For everyone else, dig in.

Is it vegan?

Honey comes from bees, so technically no — most vegans don't eat it. Beekeeping the way we do it (small scale, healthy hives, leave enough for the bees to overwinter) is about as ethical as honey gets, but the call's yours.

400g or 700g — which should I get?

The 400g is the 'try it' size. The 700g is for households that already know they want a permanent jar on the bench. The per-gram price drops as you go up. (Pick your size from the dropdown above.)

How does shipping work?

Pantry/shelf-stable goods ship for $10 flat-rate nationally, and orders over $100 ship free. Australia Post with tracking, multiple dispatches per week. Afterpay accepted.
